Sub: Annual Leave Application
This letter is to request you to grant me four weeks leave from 1st November 2013 to 30th November 2013. As per company policy, I would like to take the benefit of annual leave in this time period due to my unavailability in the city.
I shall be off to my hometown in Melbourne during the above mentioned period as my mother will be having bypass surgery during that time and being the only child, I will have to be there beside her and take all the responsibilities related to this. I know I have huge responsibilities professionally as well and I am heading two very important projects right now. Hence, I would like to assure you that I shall complete my job within 31st of October and give the temporary hand-over to my immediate colleague Ms. Sorcha Hathan. I am sure she will be able to take care of the project in my absence and I shall also be reachable over phone and emails. I will take up the charge of the project right on the day I join on 01st December 2013. If you check my leave status in last one year, you will see that I have taken only 3 days leave which were on medical ground. Since, the reason for my annual leave is unavoidable; I will have to take off during November.
I hope you would understand my situation and grant me annual leave for one month. All the documents related to my mother’s illness are enclosed herewith for your kind scrutiny.
